Gender Studies is an inter-/transdisciplinary field of scholarship and research with an international focus, which understands ‘gender’ as a category in the critical analysis of science, culture and society. It covers topics such as the gender-specific distribution of labor and the gender pay gap, discrimination and justice, different ways of life and lifestyles as well as gender images in various media and their influence on everyday life, and in general the conditions and definitions of gender and gender relationships in different historical, societal and political contexts.
