We invite advanced MA students, PhD students and postdoctoral researchers to join an informal lunch meeting with Elizabeth Loentz, Ph.D. In this relaxed setting, she will share her experiences navigating the academic system as a woman as well as the first person in her family to study.
This meeting offers the opportunity to get insights into the challenges of academia, but also to connect with other researchers.
It is aimed primarily at Early Career Researchers.
Snacks and drinks will be provided.
Elizabeth Loentz is associate professor and associate director of the School of Literatures, Cultural Studies and Linguistics at the University of Illinois, Chicago. Her research focuses on German-Jewish literature and culture from the late 19th to the 21st century, Yiddish in Germany, transnational and migrant literature, and the First German Women's Movement.
She currently chairs the Mentoring Committee of the German Studies Association in the United States and leads a two-semester workshop series in professional development for graduate students in language and linguistics at her university.
